The war in Gaza

Hi everyone!

It’s time for my first real text here on wordpress.com and I thought about what I was going to write about. Of course the present war in the Middle East came to my mind pretty soon. I really find the conflict interesting, though of course horrible to all the people living in the area. I believe that war is never the solution of a problem, therefor I’d like to say that Israel has done a major mistake by entering Gaza. On the other hand, if I’d have lived in the south of Israel, I’d have expected my government to act if my home was constantly under attack  by Palestinian missiles.

It’s hard to say who’s right and who’s wrong in the original conlifct, but sometimes I wonder if it really matters today. It’s clear that Israel and Palestine both claim to own the same land and refuse to share it with each other. But I got the feeling that this is about so much more than just a piece of land. The conflict has developed a hugh, hard-to-deal-with hate between arabs and jews and suddenly it isn’t about the land anymore, but about religion. And then, Israel has since it was founded in 1948 been a good friend of the USA. As we all know, the Arab world generally doesn’t like USA, to say the least, so now it’s a West against East-conflict. Therefor, I think that the ongoing war in Gaza and the whole conflict itself is about a general hate between different groups of people. Hate of religions, hate of the USA, hate of the Arab world, etc. Considering this, I’d say that it isn’t reasonable to believe that by just dividing the land in two parts you will have solved the whole conflict. 

I will never think that entering Palestine a couple of days ago was the best solution Israel could find to solve the problem with Hamas’ missile attacks. But neither can I say that I wouldn’t have done the same thing if I was in their possition. With this thoughts on my mind, I just hope that a cease-fire will be reached as soon as possible to give the politicians some breathing space and a chance to talk to each others. ‘Cause I’m definitely sure that the chance to reach an agreement is better if you talk than if you shoot. Then, of course, remains the question whether any of the parts really are interested in finding a solution…

The first blog

Hello world!

This is my first time on wordpress.com and I guess this time I’m just gonna try to publish something in order to find out how it works. At my blog I’d like to write about and discuss acutal issues, mostly politics but also sports, music and other things that might interest you.

My plan is to mainly write in English, though it isn’t my native tongue, in order to make my texts available to people from different countries and cultures. Though, I speek both Swedish and Italian and might write some stuff in any of those languages too. 

I really hope that you will find my blog interesting and I’d really appreciate if you’d like to comment on any of my texts. After all, there’s no point writing if no one reads and reacts on what you write.
